Can I bring my pet to therapy?

Yes. Perspectives for Thought is a pet-friendly practice. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome. There is sometimes a cat at the office, and he can easily be put behind closed doors.

I've always handled things on my own. Aren't people who go to therapy weak?

Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. In our work together I'll help you identify your strengths and use them to reduce the influence of the problems you're facing.

What's the difference between talking to you and talking to a friend?

The difference is between someone who can do something and someone trained to do it professionally. A therapist can teach you new skills, offer different perspectives, and listen without judgment or expectation. Counseling is also confidential — and confiding in a friend during a hard season can strain that relationship later.

Why shouldn't I just take medication?

Medication can be effective, but on its own it rarely resolves everything. Sometimes it's needed alongside counseling. Our work is designed to unpack the problems you're experiencing and expand the strengths that help you meet your goals.
